Dental Implants – The Most Up To Date Technology And Techniques

Dental implants have become a reliable and standard way of replacing teeth.

Implantology has become so reliable and predictable in the last decade. Long term studies are showing close to 99% success rates.  Newer materiels allow for stronger and more esthetic restorations. At the same time advances make the surgery quick, with minimal discomfort . In our office Dr. Yaakov Mikhli places implants.

One of the most fascinating advances is the ability to “create bone”. Many times, patients have insufficient bone in the upper jaw to place implants. Previously, that meant that there was no way to give them permanent teeth. Most of the time this was due to the sinus cavity having moved down due to the long term lack of teeth. Today we can do a procedure to “lift the sinus” and actually place synthetic bone. This helps the body create new bone, so that we can place dental implants. There are problems with implants as well, such as peri implantitis.

Implants today have changed our ability to give you comfort, esthetics and function. Read below for some more information on what it is all about and the cost of dental implants .

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is nothing more than a metal screw that is placed into the jaw bone. It acts as an anchor for a false tooth or a set of false teeth.

What you should know. . .

Many people do not know a heck of a lot about dental implants. In its most simple form, a dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jaw. It is allowed to heal there for a few months for it to fuse with the bone. Then your dentist can build a tooth or set of teeth to replace the teeth that you have lost

In it’s most complex form, a dental implant is placed by a dentist to anchor a tooth or a set of teeth in a very specific and technological manner. The exact position of the implant is critical to the success of the entire procedure. More importantly it is the understanding of prosthodontic principles that make dental implants work.
