We all love it, to one degree or another, and we all know it’s not good for you. Here are nine reasons why.

1)  Probably the primary reason why fast food is bad is the negative impact on your health. There is no question that fast food is less healthy than home-cooked meals, because of the higher amounts of unwanted nutrients like salt, fat and various types of artificial chemicals.Nine reasons not to eat junk food

2)  Eating junk food on a consistent basis can lead to an increased risk of obesity and chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and some cancers.

3)  Because it is high in sodium, trans fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, eating too much of fast food over a long period of time can lead to health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity.

4)  You’ll gain weight: eating foods high in calories, fat, sugar, and sodium might feel rewarding in the short-term, but it can eventually lead to unwanted weight gain and diabetes.

5)  You’re not getting any nutrition, and thus  eating a diet heavy on fast food puts you on a path to a harmful vitamin deficiency. Most menu items at fast food restaurants don’t carry the essential fiber, minerals, and healthy fats needed to fuel your body. All you get are empty calories that feel good for the moment, but in the end leave you weaker run.

6)  New research suggests that junk food can negatively affect your memory. Studies found that high levels of insulin caused by consuming too much junk food, or a bad diet, may affect the brain.

7)  Too many sweets and too much fatty foods can increase one’s insulin level, causing muscles, fat and liver cells to no longer respond to the hormone. Subjecting the brain to a significant amount of insulin can cause it to stop responding to the hormone. Thus restrict our ability to think and create new memories. 8)  Food can affect your mental health just as it does your physical health. When you eat too many carbs (like the ones found in fries, pizza, and buns), the lack of essential ingredients for brain functioning can potentially cause anxiety and depression.

9)  Eating such foods, or drinking sugary drinks all day increases the likelihood of tooth decay. Bacteria found in the mouth feed off the sugars in those treats, creating acids and eroding the enamel on the teeth. That kind of food debris is more likely to stick to your teeth. That allows the acids to build up along the surface of the teeth. The acid will eat away at the tooth enamel and wear it down, leading to tooth decay and cavities that may eventually require a crown, or even a root canal.
