Sometimes a wild animal in the zoo has dental problems. In the past, We have had to help a full grown male chimp, and a baby chimp. We have also done dental implants, esthetic dentistry and even braces for a rotweiler dog!

A chimp in the Jerusalem zoo had dental trauma, and we needed to extract his large canine tooth, or he would have died of an infection.

Two fillings on her upper molars. It is unusual for them to have decay. Possibly refined sugars given to them by zoo visitors is the cause.

Naama was born in 2007 and her mother did not take care of her. She was raised for the first year of her life in the house of her keeper, along with the children. She is being reintroduced back into the troupe.

The anatomy of the chimp is very similar to humans. Here we see the inside of the upper jaw of the chimp. As you can see he needs a good cleaning. On the lower left of the picture, you can see how his canine tooth is knocked out of place . That was the tooth that needed to be extracted.
